Experience
I recently graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Oberlin College, where I received a 3.96 GPA and completed a triple major in Creative Writing, Cinema Studies and French. My tutoring specialties include English, Creative Writing, Elementary Math, Pre-Algebra, French Language, Drama/Theater, Film and TV Studies, and Time Management and Study Skills. I have over two years combined of teaching experience. In high school, I worked as a tutor in my high school's Writing Center, where we specialized in teaching reading comprehension and essay writing skills. I also tutored a seventh grader privately in Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 and I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to a group of refugees and immigrants during a six-week summer camp designed to strengthen their study skills before the school year started. At Oberlin College, I taught poetry to a sixth grade class during a ten-day residency, where I created my own lesson plans centered around poetic analysis and exploratory writing. I also was a Teaching Assistant in the Creative Writing Department and a student professor in Oberlin's Experimental College Program, where students can create and teach their own semester-long seminar-style classes. As a part of the Experimental College Program, I taught a class called "History of American Television." I have also worked with Oberlin's Office of Disabilities as a mentor and study skills tutor, so I am prepared to work with students of all learning styles and abilities. Overall, I am passionate about education and dedicated to making learning fun. I'm affable, kind, patient and more than happy to help!
