Education

I'm a rising senior at UCLA with a major in Cognitive Science and a minor in Computing. I have a 3.85 GPA. When I graduate in the spring of 2018, I'm going to spend a year working as a technician in a science laboratory. Afterwards, I plan to go to graduate school to pursue a Ph.D in neuroscience.

Experience

I was an IB student in high school, where I regularly tutored in English, History, and Science. I got a 2200 on my SAT and scores of 6 and 7 on all of my IB exams. I'm qualified in biology, chemistry, psychology, neuroscience, English, and history. I'm fluent in French -- and getting close in Italian. I'm a long-time classical violinist as well; I had many full-time music students when I was in high school, and I'd be thrilled to meet another young person looking for an instructor. On top of my studies, I work part-time in a neuroscience research lab at the UCLA Medical School, where I participate in experiments and work closely with Ph.D students and post-doctorate fellows. I'll likely be a Teacher's Assistant in grad school (and possibly a professor down the line!), so one of my incentives to become a tutor was to get as much experience as possible working one-on-one with students.

Hobbies

I am a very easy person to be around. I spent most of my teen years working with classmates and younger students on pretty much anything that interested them. I love talking to people and learning about what interests them. Music is important to me as well-- I listen to a combination of classical, hip-hop, and rock music every day (you'd be surprised how well they fit together). I love reading, traveling, hiking, backpacking, and cooking Italian food. Since I plan on getting a Ph.D, I have years and years of learning ahead of me. I want to learn as much as I can before I head off to grad school, and that includes learning through teaching and brushing up on subjects I've worked on in the past. I can be a valuable resource in your home: both as a teacher and as a friendly source to answer any and every question your student might have.
