Education

Johns Hopkins University, BA Literature & Humanities. Professional training in AVID Media Composer editing for film and television. Selected for participation in intensive writing workshops with best-selling authors. Awarded Directing grant for 35mm film.

Experience

I love teaching and making learning fun and exciting. I've worked as an assistant teacher in middle school. I've tutored English, math and creative writing to students in elementary through middle school. I also have tutored community college students in creative writing. I am well-versed in current elementary and middle school curriculum because I provide ongoing homework assistance and test preparation guidance to my son who is in 7th grade and my daughter in 2nd grade. I am a popular volunteer in lower grade classrooms because I add insight to the lessons and inspire the students to learn more. I have volunteered with The Wonder of Reading, an organization which provides students at underfunded schools with literacy assistance. I have mentored with best-selling authors and screenwriters and published both fiction and non-fiction.

Hobbies

In addition to writing fiction and screenplays, I work as an independent filmmaker and TV and film editor. As an editor, I also assist in the writing and research for documentary programs for the History Channel, Discovery Channel and National Geographic Channel. I created a pilot program to teach film-making to at-risk youth which resulted in a collaborative short film now used as a template for similar programs. Both my parents were leading research biochemists at NIH, so I also have a strong background in and love for math and science. I helped my parents out in the lab and assisted my father editing the Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics. I am currently studying many aspects of particle astrophysics on my own, spurred on by my fascination with the attempts to reconcile quantum mechanics with the theory of relativity and the vital, dynamic search to detect and understand dark energy and dark matter. I have always been a passionate reader and have extensive knowledge of classic and modern literature. I have a very positive outlook on life, a great sense of humor and a deep love of learning which I love to share with others.
