Experience

I was a substitute teacher for several months and during that time, I worked with kids of all ages, from elementary through high school, and all in various subjects. I really enjoyed my time as a sub and learned a lot about working with kids of all ages. I have private tutoring experience, particularly in English, writing, and homework assistance. I also spent two years working at an Apple Store in NYC and during that time, I would spend hours a day teaching people of all ages how to use Apple technology. Being employed on an Apple sales floor is as much about instruction as it is about sales. By spending so much time teaching people one-on-one, I had the opportunity to glean the different ways in which people learned and how to cater my teaching style to each individual. I've always been passionate about learning and teaching across a wide variety of subjects as well, particularly English and writing. It would be a great opportunity to help kids that don't necessarily have that same passion. I know how hard it can be to struggle in a certain subject and having someone that knows the subject and is patient about teaching it can be invaluable. Everyone learns at a different pace and in different ways, so it's extremely important to have a tutor who understands that. I'm great at adapting to a student's needs and making sure he or she actually understands the material before moving on.
