Education

I got my Bachelor's of Chemistry with honors and a minor in physics from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I graduated this December 2015 with a 3.9 GPA.

Experience

As a chemistry major, I had to not only learn my field, but I also had to branch out into math, physics, biology, and due to my honors degree I had a variety of humanities courses as well. I got a very diverse education during my schooling and I felt like this has given me a unique perspective on school work and my ability to problem solve. Not only that, I worked as a teaching assistant and taught second semester college chemistry to two courses and lab sections. I had the opportunity to write my own quizzes, grade homework and labs, and so I have a fairly good understanding of how to teach chemistry and what aspects are fundamental to learning it. I have worked in an organic synthesis research for over two years and in that time I have trained multiple students on how to carry out research. I would be able to provide information on how to get involved in similar programs and the excitement that goes along with them. I scored a 27 on my ACT and a 316 on my GRE, though have never considered myself the best at standardized testing. However, I do know much of the math and literary skills involved with the tests and have developed some studying strategies. I have already taken graduate level coursework in chemistry and intend to pursue a doctoral degree to become a professor. Becoming a tutor would not only fulfill my desire of working with people, but give me an opportunity to gain valuable one on one skills necessary for my dream profession.

Hobbies

Outside of chemistry, my favorite hobby has always been reading. I am an avid fan of fiction and have always been working my way through a book. Regardless of the stresses in life, I find a way to enjoy a chapter or two of my most recent novel. While I am still learning, I picked up violin earlier this year and have been working with a teacher to develop that skill. I have always had a desire to learn music, but never found an instrument that fit. I have felt that the violin has finally fulfilled that role in my life and I have been obsessed with it for weeks. I also enjoy walks and riding my bike, regardless of the weather. Though I do have preferences for when I do go out. Ever since I was a kid I have enjoy going out for walks and having conversations with family and friends. They are simple activities, but very meditating and relaxing.
