Sarah P.
Private tutor in Los Angeles, CA
Education
I attend California State University, Northridge, pursuing a master of arts in linguistics. My particular interests are focused on cognition and the bilingual brain, but I also have interest in discourse analysis and corpus approaches. Previously, I obtained my bachelor of arts in linguistics and my bachelor of arts in international affairs from the University of Georgia, completing both degrees with a 3.4 GPA. I did also achieve top marks in AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, and AP US History during my high school years.
Experience
I have been an "on-and-off" tutor for the past six years, working with students from middle school to adults. While I have tutored in math, English, and social studies, my subject of choice is ESL. I am a linguist, and I have the most knowledge and training in this regard. All together, I approach all studies from a concept-to-application model with the hopes of engaging students to become strong critical thinkers.

Hobbies
Raised in a Korean and American household, I am a bilingual speaker of English and Korean (although my Korean gets very little use nowadays). Reading and writing (which turns into occasional blogging) are hobbies even outside of my graduate studies, but supporting my teenage sister keeps me "in-the-know" on what's going on among teenagers today.
