Private tutor in Los Angeles, CA

Education

I attended Sarah Lawrence College where I received my BFA, with a concentration in English Literature and Music. My GPA was 3.7. I am taking courses in music at Santa Monica College currently, and have received a 4.0 since beginning 3 years ago.

Experience

I was leading director of tutoring at East of Doheny, 2003-2004. I was also a tutor at K&M Center and Prodigy Tutoring Services between 2005-2007. I received approximately 1250 on the SAT. I also received 3's in AP English and AP History. I want to be a tutor because I love helping children and am excited when I see them improve, put in their best effort, and come up with creative solutions to the task at hand. Teaching is a deeply rewarding experience, and I frequently feel that I am getting as much if not more out of my time with my students as they are with me. I love that children think outside the box, that they are uninhibited, and that they are willing to take suggestion and try out my recommendations. It is amazing to see how they think and formulate plans for themselves. I am patient, encouraging, supportive, reliable, punctual, and professional. I always put my best effort into whatever it is I am setting out to do. I remember having a tutor as a child and being deeply grateful and appreciative of our time together, and I would love to give back in a similar way. I attended Hamilton High School where I graduated with honors. I also attended Sarah Lawrence College where I got consistently high marks. It was there that I got a degree in Music and English Literature.

Hobbies

I love hiking, reading, going to see concerts and plays, going to the movies, going out to dinner, and performing in choral concerts, operas, and jazz ensembles. I enjoy supporting my friends, many of which are in the performing arts, and I love to collaborate on new and exciting projects. I love singing, playing piano, and writing music. I also enjoy playing jazz and improvising--of being creative in general. I take classes at Sarah Lawrence College for personal enrichment, and to always improve at my craft.
