ExperienceI am proud that I have many years of tutoring and teaching experience, starting early in college. There, I worked with the New Student Orientation program, which emphasizes professional etiquette while working with students and their parents. We taught transfer students and graduating high school students about our academic policies and requirements while attending the University of California, Santa Barbara. After finishing my summer working as an advisor, I became a student coordinator, which required me to hire, train, and oversee the student staff for the following year. While working with the administrative area of the university, I also received two undergrad degrees in Biology and Psychology. However, I have continued to pursue education as a career path, rather than working in a lab, because I was lucky enough to have skilled and passionate professors who inspired me to teach. After graduation, I began tutoring middle and high school aged kids in numerous subjects, from math and sciences to history and reading skills, as well as English and standardized test preparation. I've also worked with many different tutoring centers teaching in several academic subjects as well as college test preparation. My tutoring philosophy involves working closely with my students to find areas where they have knowledge gaps, and then helping them learn to find their own answers.
