Experience
I have worked for many different tutoring centers since beginning my tutoring career in 2003, including the Franklin & Marshall College Writing Center, two Kumon Learning Centers, and Ivy League Academy and Prep Academy in Los Angeles. I've also volunteered as a writing tutor and mentor with WriteGirl Los Angeles and worked as a substitute teacher in LAUSD after-school programs. I've worked with students as young as two all the way through college-aged, and I've tutored many students with learning differences such as ADHD and ESL. I was always a high-achieving student and expert test taker, and I love to teach young people the same skills I used to succeed academically. I was valedictorian of my high school, received a score of 5 on the AP English Literature and Calculus tests, and earned perfect scores on the Verbal SAT and Writing and Literature SAT II tests. I graduated college in three years with a GPA of 3.93 and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. I attended graduate school for writing and work as a freelance editor, so I love to work with students in all areas of writing, from grammar and mechanics to essay organization, to poetry and screenplays! Overall, I love tutoring students of all ages in a variety of subjects, focusing on giving young people the tools they need to ultimately succeed on their own.
