Experience

I have tutored and taught at three colleges and two private academic institutions over more than a decade, in addition to numerous private clients from elementary through college age. Although my specialty is English (British and American) Literature, I have a broad range of working knowledge across the humanities and many scientific and mathematical subjects. I love the one-on-one approach that tutoring can provide because I can tailor lessons to my client's specific needs instead of having to worry about boring an advanced student or confusing a struggling student in a larger classroom environment. I have a thorough understanding of Common CORE standards, have worked as a standardized test writer and scorer (so I know what the test writers are looking for), and have developed and edited curricula for special needs, vocational, and college level courses. SAT: 1395 ACT: 32 AP Calculus: 5 (placed into junior level college calculus) credit in AP English Literature (tested out of college writing courses) credit in AP French (tested into sophomore/junior level college French language and literature)

Hobbies

I never want to stop teaching, tutoring, and learning! I am an avid lover of music: in addition to singing, I can play piano, flute, piccolo, trombone, baritone, and ukulele. For relaxation, I knit while watching TV and movies. I ran cross country in high school because I found it calming and meditative. I've recently gained insight into the workings of the film industry: I have written short comedy sketches and compiled a digital film database of tutor training videos.
