Experience

Hi There: Though my college education focused on film and screenwriting, my writing skills and my ability to work with narrative and literature were developed most strongly by a series of terrific AP teachers in high school and English professors at the university level. These skills have been greatly enhanced over the years as I have worked with other professional writers to bring narratives to life in the entertainment business. As a student, I excelled at anything where writing was required and I've spent most of my career helping other writers improve upon their own best work. Now, tutoring gives me the freedom and flexibility to work while I write on my own projects. I taught Princeton Review for SAT English while I was in grad school, and I have 20 years of professional experience working one-on-one with writers as a story editor and coach. I'm a thinker. My keen analytical skills can help you wrap your head around anything in the arts or humanities you're studying, but I have a particular interest in anthropology and sociology. I get politics. I understand how the nuts and bolts of law and government function. My undergraduate degree was a true liberal arts degree; I studied music, art history, literature, history, anthropology, and political science. I grew up in a small town with the highest per capita PhDs in the world and my high school was as competitive as any prep school in the country. I was a debater, extemporaneous speaker, radio and television host, as well as the editor of both the newspaper and literary magazine. Professionally, I've guest lectured at UC Santa Barbara, The Los Angeles Film School, and at The Los Angeles Recording School. Creative Screenwriting Magazine asked me to create a video on the genre of horror. I can help you take your academic career to the next level and improve your writing and communication skills. I can also help you think differently. Education is a process and I have watched that process develop the mind in amazing ways. Anything I can do to help someone "level up" intellectually or academically is deeply rewarding to me in a culture that values surface over substance.
