Education

North Carolina State University at Raleigh - BS, Biological Sciences with a concentration in Human Biology

Experience

I studied Biological Sciences with a concentration in Human Biology and minors in Spanish and Nutrition at North Carolina State University, where I earned my bachelor's of science degree. After that, I chose to work with a volunteer organization called AmeriCorps through the American Red Cross. I helped teach people to be prepared for disasters, and also assisted people who were recovering from recent disasters. I also took seven trips to Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic with a program called Outreach360. These were not for my entertainment, but in order to give me the opportunity to teach public health and Spanish literacy to residents. I was honored to observe the ways education had the power to transform the people in these neighborhoods. I also have experience tutoring children, as I worked with them on ways to eat healthily while on a fixed income. I also teach first aid and CPR through the Red Cross, and I am a volunteer for a free clinic. I am working on applying for medical school. I am able to tutor in a number of subjects, and my favorites are Spanish and biology. When I have free time, I like to ride horses, hike, and do yoga.
