Emily H.
Private tutor in Los Angeles, CA
Education
University of California, Santa Barbara - BA, Comparative Literature
Experience
I graduated with distinction from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in Literature, as well as a minor in French. During that time, I was lucky enough to spend a semester abroad in Paris, where I studied at the Paris Center for Critical Studies and the Sorbonne and earned a certificate of excellence in French. After graduating, I worked as a writing tutor at the University of California - Santa Barbara, where I helped undergraduate students improve their creative writing skills, sharpen their study habits, and learn how to properly structure essays. I even assisted a number of Ph.D. candidates with structuring and organizing their theses so they were easy to read and understand. Along with tutoring, I've also worked as a writer and editor for various Los Angeles publications for literature and academia. My specialties include tutoring English, essay writing, study skills, and literature. I love being a tutor because I believe that each and every individual has the ability to write eloquently once they're able to sharpen their language skills. Along with education and literature, my hobbies include music, language learning, arts, and soccer. I'm a firm believer that helping students build confidence is the first step towards helping them reach their full potential.
