I'm a resident of Los Angeles, California, and I love learning and teaching others. At present, I'm studying for a dual master's degree in philosophy and higher education. I also love history, writing, religion, and English literature. I have worked as a high school teacher of both English and algebra, and as a member of the administration of a Midwestern liberal arts college. Subjects I feel competent to tutor include English, Spanish, reading, writing, phonics, literature, grammar and mechanics, American history, European history, world religions, public speaking, religious studies, and social studies. I can also help students with editing essays, composing college admissions essays, and preparing for standardized tests such as the GRE. My tutoring approach involves showing my students how the subject they're trying to learn applies to their own lives. Learning doesn't only occur in the classroom. I prepare students to speak knowledgeably about a subject they currently struggle with. The more you use information in your daily life, the more confident you will be about it.In my spare time, I enjoy a cappella music, retro video games, sports of any kind, hiking, and reading.
