Education

Occidental College - BA, English

Experience

I earned my bachelor's degree in English and Comparative Literature with a concentration on critical theory from Occidental College. I have been tutoring for several years in a variety of different settings, including math at inner city schools, English to students in India, and reading to refugee children. I have facilitated reading programs for the Institute of Reading Development as well. I like tutoring subjects ranging from reading, writing, literature, government, history, and a variety of AP subjects. I also enjoy assisting students in standardized test preparation for the GRE, PSAT, and SAT. I enjoy watching my students' confidence rise with their academic abilities, and I believe building confidence is the key to increasing students' learning capacities. As a tutor I want to inspire and excite my students as they develop their skills. I enjoy getting students to understand concepts, not just memorize them. I create unique learning plans for each of my tutees, as I believe each student learns differently. By engaging and inspiring students, they can build real connections to previously challenging subjects. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, traveling, teaching yoga, and writing.
