Experience
Growing up in a family filled with teachers, I was inspired to spend my high school years working as a tutor for my peers. I continued tutoring when I began attending Carnegie Mellon University to study Acting and Medieval Literature. I also used that time to serve as a part-time elementary school English teacher in inner city Pittsburgh. Since my time at CMU, I continued tutoring while living in New York, Los Angeles, and Barcelona. I tutor in a varied range of subjects but my passion lies with tutoring students in English, math, history, and SAT preparation. I truly enjoy helping students who struggle with test taking and approach the task with the goal of helping them view the SAT as an approachable set of riddles and games. I absolutely believe that for most people, learning to love academics is just a matter of figuring out which approach to take while learning. Finding this approach is my focus. When I'm not helping students rediscover their love of learning, I keep active by hiking, camping, surfing, and rock climbing. I am also the Los Angeles Review of Books section editor and serve as the literary manager for two theater companies located in Los Angeles and New York.
