Experience
I earned my bachelor's degree at U.C. Berkeley, where I majored in political science and minored in Spanish and Russian. I obtained my master's degrees in Public Affairs and Russian/Eastern European Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. I am passionate about teaching and tutoring, and am able to tutor English reading and writing, Spanish, Russian, public speaking, and history. I also have experience in teaching ESL, so I have a unique perspective on the mechanics of learning and teaching languages to non-native speakers. I like to begin with new students by having a conversation about the challenges they face so that I can come up with a tutoring plan designed to work with each student's unique learning style. I especially enjoy teaching students to learn to love studying a new language and sharing my love of the English language to help them excel in English composition and reading comprehension. As a theater enthusiast, I like to use theatrical techniques to assist students in building confidence in public speaking. I find tutoring immensely rewarding! When I'm not tutoring, I like to practice yoga, spend time on home improvement, and hike.
