Experience

I have a passion for helping others understand and succeed in areas they find challenging. I believe it is crucial to have strong foundations in the basic building blocks of science and mathematics to excel as a student at any level and as such, I am dedicated to augmenting weaknesses students have in these areas in addition to concurrent teaching of advanced materials. As the eldest of five siblings I have extensive experience tutoring mathematics and science spanning lst to 12th grade as well as at the college level. I have coached two of my siblings for college entrance and they currently attend Smith College in Massachusetts and UCLA respectively. While I was in college and graduate school I was a valuable resource for many of my colleagues who had difficulties in the areas of organic, inorganic and physical chemistry as well as numerous areas of mathematics, applied and proof based. As is the case with 1st to 12th grade courses, I find that at the college level many of the difficulties students face stem from issues of understanding fundamental concepts that are taught either earlier in a course or have been covered in previous courses. I aim to target such areas in my tutoring sessions while also assisting with concepts that are covered in homework or exam preparation. In addition to math and science, I am available for tutoring Arabic. I am a dual US, Saudi Arabian citizen so I grew up in a bilingual, bicultural environment. While teaching the Arabic language I can impart knowledge of cultural nuances associated with the language thus providing a more contextualized, rounded approach.
