From 1998 to 2000 I served as a volunteer tutor with South Bay Literacy Council in Torrance, California. I was also tutor coordinator, speaking to classes of new tutors, placing them with students, doing follow-ups to see how tutors and students were progressing, and if necessary rearranging more suitable matches.
