Experience

I tutored Math and English throughout high school and college. While, I've often taught material ahead of the classroom using outside textbooks and learning materials to help students get ahead of the competition, I also enjoy seeing a struggling student get a sense of accomplishment when they feel they've caught up to their peers. Aside from the various classes I took as an English major and to get my Teaching English as Foreign Language Certification, I've found that the few psychology classes I've taken give me insight into how best to accommodate a student regardless of where they are coming from. that being said, I am an English and ESL tutor, but I am also willing to tutor any subject up to high school or Algebra 1.

Hobbies

I have a wide variety of interests. Some of the more prominent ones for me at this point in time are Ingress, Starcraft II, & music covers. Ingress is an augmented-reality game that requires its players to go to real world locations to perform actions in the game. This utilizes the GPS system in the player's smartphones or wifi in order to connect to various "portals" in the game. Personally, I find the community aspect of the game very appealing as it trains you to work together to accomplish a common goal. StarCraft II is a real-time strategy game that challenges the player to react to their opponent at high speeds, like speed chess. I find that the competition is a very internal one as the 1v1 aspect of the game makes it so that whenever you lose, you must take responsibility for whatever you failed to account for. Music videos also require critical thinking, but in a more relaxed manner. I enjoy the opportunity to express an emotion through singing, and then share it with a small audience.
