My specialty lies in making math/sciences/computer science fun and understandable for those students who don't "get" math/STEM -- or making it seem cool for those who have the aptitude but aren't necessarily motivated. I was also an au pair in Turkey for a summer and helped my 4th grader get up to speed with his English. I'm a great writer and loved school growing up, and am a talented tutor in all subjects. I worked as a data scientist for 5 years (at Tumblr and then eBay) before deciding I needed a break from the sexism that is inherent in the tech industry -- unfortunately, it is as bad as they say. I'm really excited to fill my time with kids' curious energy instead! I'm a great teacher, fun to be around, have a lot of energy and can dish it out to your kids just as well as I can take it -- and of course, I can be similarly patient and kind with a shyer child. I enjoy doing the NYT crossword puzzle daily, reading fiction and theory, watching movies, playing softball and doing pilates, and shopping on eBay.
