Experience
6 years full time teaching experience in Los Angeles, California. Experience in multiple grade levels including Kindergarten, 3rd, and 6th. Over 200 hours experience online tutoring from ages 3-12 years old. Engaging, professional, and experienced. Unlike many, I love teaching math. I have created my own math curriculum, attended conferences, and received many hours of professional development on best teaching practices in math. My basic philosophy is that math should begin with hands on, tactile learning using real life problems and manipulatives. This helps students see patterns and make connections to prior learning and experiences. Once students begin to understand the problem they are solving, math lessons move toward concepts and formulas. I love to read, and truly enjoy helping others become better readers. I have taught young children, focusing on foundational skills such as letters and sounds. I also have experience teaching older students how to dig deeper into texts to enhance their comprehension skills. Reading should be enjoyable and academic at the same time.
