Education

I am a web developer and technology trainer well-versed in HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I have been a MySQL developer well-versed in SQL(Structured Query Language) since 2013. In addition, I am able to correctly explain and tutor fundamental programming concepts such as control flow and decision-making, programming tools, debugging, data structures, differences in languages, File input-output, Regular Expressions, data types, Functions (or methods), operations and operators etc. My greatest strength lies in the fact that I didn't grow up in a computer programming background (I majored in Physics) nevertheless I stand as evidence to encourage my students that it doesn't matter what area of study you've specialized in if you want to learn, you can program at a very high level. I adopt and offer my students a hands-on approach to learning programming and I use real life metaphors to relate to writing efficient code. I have over 6 years experience tutoring in Computer Programming. Some of the languages I have tutored students in include Javascript, Python, and Ruby. I have worked with several students to provide training in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word and Access. I have also taken courses on Lynda and obtained certificates in various computer science topics including Swift Essential Training, HTML Essential Training, JavaScript Essential Training, Relational Database Fundamentals and Foundations of Programming.

Experience

I provide high premium quality tutoring and training services for Computer Science and IT students and also assistance in the completion of software projects for clients(individual or small business). Additionally, I provide training material and guidance for aspiring tech professionals undergoing a career change. I have tutored students in Java, MySQL, JavaScript, Python (as well as Microsoft Office platforms such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). I experience tutoring students in math, reading, and writing as well. I welcome all ages of students and clients but primarily anyone over 12 (Usually IT and Computer programming as well as Computer Office Solutions). This includes high school students, college students, graduate students seeking homework help or help understanding programming fundamentals or more advanced topics. My teaching style is based on the idea of simplifying material to ease the understanding of students. I believe the tutor has to have the patience to guide the student through the process of learning but also just as importantly before you bombard your student with syntax or procedure or content you must show him/her the practical importance of what they're learning. The best tutors, from my personal experience, not only had command of the subject matter but also the real world application of such knowledge. Therefore my preferred method is to connect the real world to the content as much as possible. Also, I have found that it helps to make such learning as exciting as possible. As a tutor who accepts that students exist in a real world with varying backgrounds, personalities, and circumstances, I have learned to develop a spirit of practical flexibility. Tutoring for me is a continuous balancing activity where the tutor must usually adjust style and delivery of content from student to student. I am looking forward to adding knowledge and excitement to your life. I am very flexible with my schedule and always open to new ideas from parents or students. I offer an interactive, face-to-face mode of tutoring via Skype, Teamviewer or GotoMeeting to all my clients. This provides a great way to reach clients all around the country and gives additional flexibility to my students. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message and I will respond promptly.
