My name is Gabriela A. I am a motivated, creative and positive person that is committed to the success of students of all ages with their individual goals through one on one tutoring. As part of my education, I obtained my bachelor's degree in computer science with a 3.7 GPA from the California State University of Los Angeles. I am SAT certified and have taken 1 year worth of classes towards a masters in special education. Also, I did my teaching residency at Alhambra high school. I have taken and passed the CBEST exam and I am a certified substitute teacher.
Experience
As part of my experience in the tutoring and education field, I have worked in many capacities and settings. For example, in the capacity of teacher assistant, I collaborated in lesson planning and students’ progress monitoring in a special education classroom at Alhambra high school. Also, I worked at Marshall high school. There, I provided students with extra support in a variety of subjects like Math, History, English, Spanish, Physics, US Government, to mention a few, both inside the classroom and in an after school homework program. Furthermore, I assisted an Aveson charter school of education junior high teacher by providing special need students with individual customized lesson plans and support. On top of that, while working towards my bachelor’s degree in computer science, I worked at the California State University of Los Angeles math and science tutoring center. There, I helped college students to improve their study, test taking, and planning skills through a series of presentations. I also helped students understand course material, by simplifying complex concepts in a variety of subjects like Physics, Math and Computer Programming. I previously worked as a private tutor and a part-time tutor for Tutor Doctor. I currently work as an assistant administrator/teacher coordinator at Young Scholars Institute where I train, substitute and supervise teachers and curriculum.

As part of my interests, I like to be involved in educational activities that give me the opportunity to help children and youth succeed academically. Also, I like to keep my computer science skills up to date by doing online programming tutorials. Furthermore, I enjoy reading books on self-improvement. As part of my hobbies, l like to hike, walk my dogs, play the guitar, watch movies and exercise.
