Experience
I have been a private tutor since 9th grade, tutoring elementary, junior high, and high school students. I focus mainly on reading comprehension and writing, but also touch base on grammar and mechanics. I've taught 5th-8th grade English Literature at a private school for 3 years, and the experience has greatly expanded my sensitivity to the diverse learning group as well as the expectations of parents. I've completed my student teaching at both a junior high school as well as a high school. As a high school student teacher, I taught an 11th grade Honors English class simultaneously with a CAHSEE Prep English class. Through this experience, I was selected as a candidate for the Mary Snyder Student Teaching Award which I won at the end of the teaching year. I am bilingual in Korean, and understand the cultural aspects and needs of Korean parents.

Hobbies
I enjoy all expressions of art, and have used illustration as a means of connecting with the visual learners in my classes. I enjoy reading and hunting after all the local bookstores for the best finds. I am completely obsessed with my Yorkshire Terrier, and enjoy jogging regularly with her. I love experimenting in the kitchen, and baking goodies that are not only tasty, but also healthy (so the guilt doesn't come storming in so hard!). But most of all, I enjoy people. I find tremendous value in listening and building relationships with others no matter how large the age gap. I find it crucial to build a relationship with my students first before having them entrusting me with their education.
