Experience4 years of experience tutoring in both middle school and high school.
Valedictorian w/ 10 AP's.
Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Shanghainese. Conversational in French.
After spending time after school to tutor my peers in subjects ranging from pre-calculus to world history, I came to college still seeking those extraordinary moments of spending quality time to help someone understand concepts and work through problems. It's an amazing experience to see confidence increase as the brain makes connections it did not grasp before.
I've also coached speech in the category of original oratory as a captain of my high school team, with many competing at state including myself.
Throughout the years, my tutoring skills have developed with experience and I learned what did and did not work. I organize my lessons so that there is a plan on paper, which can be adjusted depending on what the student needs help in most. I find explaining with visuals and diagrams has been the most helpful, but I also understand that every student is different and I can always adjust to what works best for the student.
